Dave, I'm not sure now whether it's a return or a CR/LF. I will create
a file with just the headings and will put in the files area. I don't
have access to the files area from work, so I will send it home and put
it up there tonite. I appreciate any help as this is really an annoying
problem.
Thanks,

Christine
The heading says that you have CR/LF but the verbage
is just mentions "returns".
Can You send Me a sample
[ off group davesharpe2@xxxxxxx ]
so that I can be sure I'm working with the actual
problem ?

Subject: [mso] Macro in Excel to Remove CR/LF
I have data in an Excel file that comes in from another system. It puts
returns in the header to wrap the header and single line headers have
two returns before the text so that they are vertically aligned bottom.
When I bring it in, the returns are there, which causes problems when I
sort, because it displays blank information in the sort window, since it
sees the first line, which blank. I tried to record a macro to remove
them, but because I am editing the cell when I do it, it replaces the
text in each cell I run the macro on, with the text in the cell where I
recorded the macro. I tried modifying the macro after recording, but
couldn't figure out how to tell it to leave the current text, just
remove those returns.
Would it be possible to write a macro that would go into each cell and
remove the returns, replace them with a single space and retain the
text?
Thanks,
