I don't think I've seen a better summation of this whole mess. Very =
eloquent Diane, and EXACTLY my feeling as well. Thank you! Another =
(perfect) remedy to the dilemma would be to open a "sister" mailing =
list. We could call it "MSO-Lite". In here we could personalize a =
little. Of course all the important posts rigidly on-topic should be =
kept right here so we could all learn and follow along, but on the other =
end of the spectrum, sometimes I get the urge to post the recipe for my =
delicious French Toast. LOL The list-members on this "main" list are all =
very nice people and I know for sure I'd enjoy just shootin' the breeze =
with many of them. There are a lot of brilliant minds on this list. I'd =
like to know if any of them found a new flea shampoo for their dog. LOL. =
 I am a BIG Chatter-bug. I love it. Peter C. - Stuart, FL. (PS, not =
to imply Linda is not flexible with OT. I guess as long as it's =
well-marked "OT" and the thread doesn't go on forever,, you don't get =
chastised) Linda is Great!

Subject: [mso] MEMBERS. VOTE NOW ( was Moderation...or Censorship?)

I feel the categorization of "these kinds of discussions" is a bit vague
and am quite sure that I might vote YES in some cases and NO in others,
but I am voting YES for this particular discussion thread. My vote is a
selfish one as someone who receives the digest version, has cable modem,
and is therefore not as easily annoyed if my mailbox on some days
contains more of this kind of mail than others. I know I certainly learn
a LOT reading the opinions of Linda and the other Office gurus.
Sometimes not just knowing the step-by-step on how to do something is
not quite enough. The kind of background provided by these discussions
is valuable to me as long as it stays on-topic, and I thought this one
absolutely did stay on-topic. Presenting rationales for the use of
Access vs. Excel in different situations is great and I don't see it as
"emotion". Although it may be personal opinion to some degree, we all
know there's more than one way to skin a cat and the personal opinions
of the experts on this list is something I always want to hear.

Thanks, Linda, for letting us all have our say:)

Enjoy your time away!

Diane
