[mso] Logical properties in Access (am using 2000 and 2003)

I want a Gender field in my records which displays only M or F and am not
bothered about a Default.
I'm sure I've done it in the past with a Yes/No data type and then
appropriate field properties but just can't get it right today.
Will somebody please put me out of my misery!!!
