When I open the "Mailing list" Word file it is giving me a table with
FirstName LastName Address1 Address2 City State
PostalCode
along the top with all the info below.

Is there something I am missing?

Vic

You are trying to open the wrong file. You are trying to open the file
that you put the merge fields into, not the file that has your names and
addresses in it. You need to open the one with the names and addresses
in it.

It sounds like you saved the doc with your last merge, versus with the
addresses. In pre XP versions, a data source is simply a Word table. So
open the address.doc in Word and see what you have. Is it a table or is
it a formatted set of docs? (XP uses an Access DB as it's source.)

Subject: [mso] Labels question

Can anyone help with Labels?

I want to print mailing labels that I have from a previous mail merge
experiment with Office 2000. I open WORD, select TOOLS | MAIL MERGE |
CREATE MAILING LABELS. Select Active Window and then on DATA SOURCE |
OPEN DATA SOURCE then scroll to my MAILINGLIST.DOC file that I used
previously. When I select the file and click open I get Office Assistant
that says: WORD cannot open Mailing List as a data or header source
because it is a MAIL MERGE main document. All I want to do is print the
labels with the different addresses, can anyone shed any light on what I
am doing wrong??
