[mso] Re: Is there an EASY way to create a data input form for Excel?

Hello Again, Just to let you know I have found the solution, which I paste
below in case anyone finds this thread while searching for the same solution. I
appreciate the assistance and remain a loyal and appreciative member of this

miltonj"select all the cells you want users to fill in (hold down ctrl key to
select multiple cells). go to format menu>cells>protection tab, and
uncheck the 'locked' checkbox. then go to tools menu>protection>protect
sheet or protect workbook. after you have set the protection, users only have
to press tab to go to the next cell to fill in. " Thanks Linda,I admit I did
not know of the Form item on the Data menu, but at first glance it does not
look as though it is quite what I want! I shall persevere though and see if i
can use it.It appears it is a bit limited in as much as it seeems set on a
single column? What I have is a sheet essentially consisiting of 2 columns,
column A being a 'label' identifying the data in column B. The user is required
to enter data in cells B3-B6, B8-B13, B22-B23 and B30-32. The cells in between
in Col B contain formulas using the entered data. Initially I hoped I could
simply 'protect' the entire sheet except for the cells I have lis
ted and tab from one to another but i realise this is not possible?Any other
simple remedies would be very much appreciated, thanksRogerFrom: "Linda F.

create a data input form for Excel?Hello everyone! As usual (it seems) I am in a
difficult position of having to do something far quicker than I would like.
This time, I have to create a 'data entry form' for people to use in order to
complete a spreadsheet created in Excel. I have looked at various visual basic
editor solutions but while I would love to get to grips with th
is I fear I do not have the time!I have been given a completed Excel file
which in my view is very poorly executed because a new user opening the file is
confronted with a mass of cells, each of which are totally unprotected and open
to alterations, deletions etc, and there is no way for a new user to easily
pick out what data he has to enter. I hoped there is an easy way to create a
separate form in which the cells requiring input are listed from top to bottom
with a text box alongside where the user types whatever is appropriate. Having
completed the list, the entries would then be transferred to the Excel sheet
and the formulas etc would then work their magic.Initially I thought Excel may
offer something similar to Word's Form / Text Form Field (where the rest of the
sheet is locked and protected from inadvertent changes) allowing the user to
tab from one cell to another but it appears there is no such option. After
looking for solutions I have come to the realization that
a 'visual basic input form' is what is required but I have not found simple
instructions for creating such an animal. Can someone please direct me to a
'Simple as 1,2,3,' type tutorial for this, or better still can I copy and paste
a prebuilt form into my Excel workbook?I am sorry to ask such a long question
but hopefully I have adequately described what I am seeking. I have to try to
fix this up by Monday so time is against me, here in Australia it is already
Thursday mid-day!Thanks for any assistance offered,Best wishes, Roger
