For the copy/paste, just select "skip blanks" in the "paste special" popup.

Don't understand your side question.  When you say "If cell A2 equals zero, 
replace cell B2 with a zero..." you seem to be heading in the wrong 
direction.  Formulas (IF or anything else) do not REPLACE a cell's 
contents - they merely control what the cell will display.

A cell can only have one thing in it.  That is its formula.  If the formula 
is a simple number, etc (i.e. doesn't start with an "="), then Excel will 
display that formula unchanged as the value.  If it does start with a "=", 
Excel will evaluate it as a statement and will display the result as the 
value.
