Hmm, ... That being the case and assuming the records are *less* 65536
records deep in the file INCLUDING THE COLUMN HEADERS, shouldn't I be able
to import all this into an Excel workbook over several sheets and let Access
import it all in one shot?
I.e., the book might be 50 sheets deep, but as long as there is a header for
each column, won't it import? I am thinking this would be a faster way to
go. Get it all in one Excel workbook and let Access import it all in one
fell swoop. I did a rough estimate of the records, looks like there
somewhere around a total of 5,832,615 record over a lot of files, but all
the headers are present. Just not in the same order for whatever reason. I
am not even sure Excel can handle a workbook that strenuous.
Can it? Can Access do import sheet by sheet by sheet?
Thank you very much.
Robert

It should be fine, although you may have to set up an append query if
Access creates different tables. Sometimes, you can never be sure unless
you try these things. Make backups and give it a go.

I have a potential problem. Suppose in Excel Sheet A I have the
following at the top of each column.
CemeteryName-address-PhoneNo-City-zipcode-state--status
But on in a different file I have the same data, but in TEXT and in a
different order, say: CemeteryName-address-city-state-zip-PhoneNo-Status
But a third file is worse. It has:
Status-PhoneNo-Zip-State-City-Address--CemeteryName
And a fourth file is just CemeteryNames alone. No data yet.
Will Access import them, and keep that straight? The files are too large
for Excel to reorder the columns without losing something at the bottom.
Thank you.
