The built-in recovery is on a hard drive partition. Invoke it, and the recovery
program formats the hard drive, replaces the Windows and driver files, and
replaces the program files for the programs that came with the computer. In
other words, you restore the computer to the way it was when it was new. So the
drivers are all correct. I then updated everything, reinstalled any additional
programs she had, and restored her data.
The only thing useful I got from her is that the Word ruler doesn't stretch
across thje entire screen. But note that I said this affected all Office
programs on the computer.
I've asked her to bring the computer back in, but she didn't want to.
