Ray,
If I understand your query correctly.
Page number colours in the Footer can be changed by inserting a 'Next Page
Section Break' and unselecting 'Link to Previous' for each page that you
require a different colour page number.
It used to be so easy in Word 2003, but I find it much more difficult in
Word 2007.
You can also add graphics to the footer.
If you want a graphic to flow over the footer you will have to format the
graphic so that it is Behind Text

Subject: [mso] Footer Superimposed on Picture in Word2003
To All,
I'm considering emulating (stealing) some of the formatting ideas employed
in
the Symmetry Magazine published by Fermilab/SLAC. See ==>
http://www.symmetrymagazine.org/pdfs/200811/nov_2008.pdf
I notice that except for pages 1, 35 and 36, every page shows its page
number
in the footer, but some pages also contain a picture or other graphical
content that extends into the footer area and the page number is still
visible. It's as if the footer background is transparent.
My questions: Is transparent background in footer possible to obtain in
Word2003? Can graphics overlap footer? A somewhat related question: Can the
font color of the page number be varied as desired from page to page? In the
Fermilab newsletter, the number for pages 2 through 6 is green but on page 7
it is yellow, and on pages 8 through 10 it is white and on page 11 it is
black
etc.
Thanks for the help.
Ray Shapp
