[mso] Re: Footer Superimposed on Picture in Word2003

There ARE ways to pull off some of these tricks, but my educated guess is
that they didn't use Word as their initial layout app, but rather used
something like Quark, InDesign or Illustrator.

Plus...if you tried to pull this off in Word you'd need a printer that
allows bleeds.

Subject: [mso] Footer Superimposed on Picture in Word2003

To All,

I'm considering emulating (stealing) some of the formatting ideas employed
in
the Symmetry Magazine published by Fermilab/SLAC. See ==>

  http://www.symmetrymagazine.org/pdfs/200811/nov_2008.pdf

I notice that except for pages 1, 35 and 36, every page shows its page
number
in the footer, but some pages also contain a picture or other graphical
content that extends into the footer area and the page number is still
visible. It's as if the footer background is transparent.

My questions: Is transparent background in footer possible to obtain in
Word2003? Can graphics overlap footer? A somewhat related question: Can the
font color of the page number be varied as desired from page to page? In the

Fermilab newsletter, the number for pages 2 through 6 is green but on page 7

it is yellow, and on pages 8 through 10 it is white and on page 11 it is
black
etc.

Thanks for the help.

Ray Shapp
