Camille,
I have followed this problem with interest.
Shelley Allegro (I looked it up) is a commercial Linotype font (and a very
pretty one too designed by Matthew Carter, a typographer for whom I have
great respect), so there should be no problem with it. You say you have the
Truetype version, though there is an Adobe Postscript version as well.
If the presentation was made using the Postscript version, it's possible
that it might not properly recognise the Truetype version.
Have you tried:
(1) creating a new presentation and selecting the font (I notice that you
can create a new document in Word successfully)
(2) editing the presentation, selecting the text and changing the font from
"shelleyallegro" to "Shelley Allegro" (lol).
(3) does the font appear in the drop-down font preview list in the Format
toolbar in both Word and Powerpoint (I noticed you used the menu option in
Word). I am not sure of the mechanics of Office but it seems to me that both
PowerPoint and Word share the same dlls for both methods of font selection
and that the dll for the menu font selection method is different from the
Toolbar font selection method.
PowerPoint does not have the Search and Replace feature to replace
occurrences of font and formatting that Word does (why? - beats me!) or I
would suggest a global replace for the whole presentation. If the above
works, then you will just have to go through the whole presentation
manually.
If you do resolve this problem, I would be interested to hear the details.
