[mso] Re: Exporting Mail

Michele...

Here's an article I wrote in the July TechTrax that explains how you can
minimize your emails by putting stuff in various pst files as Linda is
explaining below. So if you want to see more details and images giving
stepXstep details...which this out:

http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=52

But this does NOT have to do with yesterdays conversation! This is another
way to sort your email. The new info will be along shortly.

That thread was for a very specific process, Michele....that was to get
Outlook mail into Outlook Express....if all you want is to make your
Outlook pst file smaller, use Outlook's Archive function

That will remove mail older than a certain date and place it in a new
pst called archive.pst

Then, if you want to see that mail later, you can just go into Outlook's
File menu and choose Open > Personal Folder and browse to it (or if you
are using Outlook 2002, it's File>Open>Outlook Data File)

No need to export anything unless you are trying to get mail from one
email program to a DIFFERENT email program or a DIFFERENT machine

BlankI'm posting this to the group in case others are interested in this
as
well.
I'm a day late on this, but I've been following the exporting thread
since I
need to do something about the size of my mailboxes. I went to Dian's
site
and downloaded the cataloger. I'm not clear on how to use this. Did I
miss
a readme file about this somewhere?
Also, in another group that I belong to, they talk about exporting the
mail
to an access database. Which method is better as far as being able to
retrieve information when I need it?

Thanks,
