[mso] Re: Excel questions

Norman,

1. There are a few ways of doing this. Personally, I use hyperlinks to
navigate from a consolidating sheet or index. I've built an Excel add-in
which includes a new button to create these tabs and links for you
automatically in a new workbook. You can read about it and download it
here:

Another trick is to right-click on the bar arrows just to the left of
the tabs which will bring up a context menu which lists all the tabs.
You can click on the tab you want to go to it.

2. This does seem odd at first, I agree, but you can control this down
to the cell level, like this:

        a. Select all cells on the sheet (ctrl+A)
        b. Go to Format-Cells
        c. Hit the 'protection' tab
        d. Remove the tick from the chceckbox
        e. Select just the cells you want to protect
        e. Repeat steps b & c, this time putting a tick in the box
        f. Go to Tools-Protection-Protect sheet to enable the
protection, adding a password if you like

Subject: [mso] Excel questions

Hello experts

I have created a workbook that has developed 15
worksheets and growing. Is there an easier way of
navigating the various worksheets other than scanning
through the tabs which is quite time consuming?

Also I cannot find a way to protect individual cells,
where I have various formulas. I cannot see the logic
of protecting a whole worksheet, when many of the
cells carry the data which periodically need updating
manually. I often inadvertantly delete a formula cell
thus creating problems.

Advice would be appreciated

Norman West
