Subject: [mso] Excel question about adding up lengths of time

I have a column of lengths of time listed in Excel and I'd like to add
them up. The thing is, once it goes over 24 hours, it starts back at
zero. Here's an example:

This works fine:
1:10
3:30

4:40 is the sum

But this list is over 24 hours in total:
1:10
3:30
1:10
3:30
1:10
3:30
1:10
3:30
1:10
3:30
1:10
3:30
1:10
3:30

The sum that shows up when I add all of these up is 8:40. But it should
be more like 33 hours and some number of minutes.

I know it's because Excel thinks the entries are actual times of day,
not lengths of time. Is there a way to get Excel to know that these
represent "1 hour and 10 minutes," rather than "1:10 am"? And then add
them up for me? What I'm trying to do is track the amounts of time
spent on certain projects, and I was given an Excel sheet with these
kinds of numbers and I'd rather not have to convert them all by hand
into decimals. I'm hoping there's an easy way to make it add up the way
I want.

Thanks,
Elise
