[mso] Re: Excel links to Access

Thanks Cathy. I can create new queries. In SQL, the path is identical
to the path I try to use for the existing queries. Unfortunately, it
errors out on the existing ones. There's at least 60 of them which means
I'll have to go through the process for each one. It'll probably take 2
hours. sigh. /g

I'm with you now, sorry I wasn't on the same page at first. Are you
able to get to the query grid and then create a new query, pulling what
you need from the new data location? Manually editing from the SQL
works on my system, as well as creating a new query, so it should work
for you-not sure why it's not.

In the query grid you can either view SQL, add a new table or create a
new query, which opens a browse window where you can drill down to the
right
data source and then re-choose your original query/table from there.
You
may want to choose to create a new query and browse through till you
find your table source.

Hope it helps, Cathy

When I refresh, I get a message that my datafile is invalid. When I
path to the new directory location, I get a message that it's invalid
also. I opened the SQL and tried manually typing in the data
path...still getting an error.

Glenda,
If I'm understanding your excel file rightly as an import data type
file, try setting the data range properties (Data/Import External
Data/Data Range
Properties) to refresh every ___ minutes or to refresh on file open.
You can also do a manual refresh anytime by choosing Data/Refresh Data.

Hope this helps, Cathy

Subject: [mso] Excel links to Access

Hi All.
I have a Excel worksheet with several links to Access tables. The
network administrator is forcing me to move my files (for good reasons)
which means the links will no longer be valid. I tried several ways to
re-link but haven't been able to get it to work, including attempting to
edit the SQL. The help file has been no help. If one of you experts
could point me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate the assist.
/g
