When you have the conditional format window open, there is a drop down box
at the far left which defaults to "cell value is".  Instead of that, select
"formula is" and then enter a formula for what you want, eg =b2>2. If that
is true then the formating will be applied.
If you need to check the value in more than 1 cell, you can click the "add"
button to create more conditions which look at other cells, or you could
write one formula using ifs ands & ors to do it in one go.

Hi
I understand how to use conditional formating for the active cells.  What if
I need to activate a cell based on a condition entered into another cell.

For example I would like cell A1 to turn red if the contents = or <> than a
condition in b2 or even dependent on the condition in a number of cells?
