[mso] Re: Excel Spreadsheet compatibility

I open files in Excel 2003 that were created and edited in earlier versions
all the time and I've NEVER seen that message, so I would have to assume
it's some setting the person using the other version did that's causing the
problem and not your settings. Either that or the file itself has some
problems. Ask the person who edited this file in the earlier version to use
File>Save As and save it as a general excel spreadsheet and NOT in some
version specific format and you should be able to open it fine AND see the
comments.

Good luck.

Subject: [mso] Excel Spreadsheet compatibility

Hi I 'am trying to open a spreadsheet in version 11.5612.5606, that has
beenedited in version 9.0442 SR-1. The edited version includes some
comments. When I try and open the spreadsheet in version 11, the first
message I get is "File Error, data may have been lost". From here I have to
click the 'OK' on the error message 5 times before the spreadsheet opens.
Once it has opened, none of the comments are available. When closing the
spreadsheet the following message appears; "Microsoft Office Excel
Recalculates formulas when opening files last saved by an earlier version of
Excel" .
Can anyone please tell me if there are any known issues between these two
version or if there are any settings that I should be changing in order for
this to work. Regards Sherm
