I wasn't able to get the array to work for this purpose (probably just don't
understand it well enough yet), but I was able to combine the match and
hlookup that Ray had described for an earlier question. The final formula
was
=HLOOKUP(C8,B71:H103,MATCH(C7,B71:B103,0),FALSE)
It seems simple once it is written, but it took me a while to find it. The
MATCH finds the position of the years experience in the grid and then the
HLOOKUP finds the certificate type (horizontal) and returns the salary at
the position number below it.
Thanks for all of the replies.
Jenny

You need an array formula for two criteria like this. Here's my Array

Subject: [mso] Excel Question
Is there a way to put a formula in that will select an amount based on 2
criteria? I used vlookup for selecting from one criteria, but I can't figure
out how to do 2.
For example, I have a spreadsheet with a drop-down list for "Type of degree"
and another cell for "Years of Experience". Is there a way to put a formula
in a cell that will put in the state amount for Bachelor's with 2 years of
experience for example? I pasted a few rows of the table with the
information.
Thanks,
Jenny
