That's pretty much what I would have suggested, Anne, except AJ requested
"one step" so the only way I know to do this is with a macro (vba)

The only other way I would suggest, apart from the VBA route, would be to
open the .txt file in word, do a Find and Replace (search for ^p and replace
with tab or semicolon), resave as a .txt file and import into Excel as a tab
or semicolon delimited file.

Notepad doesn't, so far as I can find out, support find and replace on
paragraph marks/carriage returns.
