[mso] Edits cannot save (Word)

Hello everyone. I am new to this list. My name is Robert Carneal, and I am 
a programmer by trade, I write programs aimed at people who use DOS only 
based systems.

Ok, I have a 580-some page Microsoft word document that I am attempting to 
edit by removing the graphics I do not want. I am using Office 2000. I am 
on a Windows ME system. I have 11 Gig free on drive "C" and 60 Gig free on 
Drive "D."

When I try to save me edits, it tells me the disk is full. It also tells me 
it cannot make backups. I suspect there is attribute or setting somewhere 
on the file that sets it to "Read Only" or something that indicates to Word 
it cannot be edited. How can I change that please?

If I am completely off base with my guess of "Read Only," I would 
appreciate any ideas or theories as to what's going and how to correct it.
