[mso] EXCEL - REMOVING THE ALT CR USED FOR SECOND ETC. LINES IN A CELL.

Dear All:
I have entered data in a cell and to fit it into the coloumn width, I used
ALT + ENTER to get the second and subsequest lines. Later I extended the width
of the coloumn. The cell was aligned vertically for TOP. Now since the three
lines' data fits into two lines I have a blank third line. I used DELETE at the
end of the second line to remove the blank third line but that does not do it.
How can I do it ?
  Thanks,
  j.
