Hi Ray,
As a quick and dirty method you can use the drawing toolbar. First, format
your table to get the cells the size you want; using Arial as the default
font, the relationship to get a more-or-less square cell is, for example,
for a column width of 12 a row height of about 60. Adjust column width and
row height up or down in the same proportion to get the squares the size
you want.
To draw a circle, click on the elipse on the drawing toolbar, then
shift-click on the spreadsheet and, holding down the shift key, move the
cursor to get a circle the size you want. Move this circle to inside one of
the table cells and position it as nearly centered as you can. Right click
on the circle outline and select "format autoshape" to change the line
thickness, if not satisfactory.
Now copy the cell and paste it to the other table cells.
