Mike--
Using command line switches, you can do both. For instance, to open a
particular workbook, just change the Target of the shortcut to something
like the following:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" "C:\Documents and
Settings\MRubinfeld\My Documents\SpreadsheetToOpen.xls"
For more info, go to Help in Excel and search for 'Startup Switches'.

Subject: [mso] Desktop shortcuts for Excel workbooks
Does anyone know of a way to make a desktop shortcut point directly to a
specific sheet of an Excel workbook? In other words, open the workbook
directly to the desired sheet. Similarly, can this be done via a batch
file? Thanks,
Mike Rubinfeld
