Actually Anne - if you are using Windows XP or 2k, it will often use 'too
many characters' in the password field as a way of defeating guessing of the
password.

You can see it demonstrated if you go to your User Accounts applet and go to
'change password'.

So it is probably still your ISP rather than Outlook.
