[mso] Dates in Excel

I have used the "fill series" function to create a list of dates for a
whole year.
I need to import these dates, as text into a Mysql database
The problem is that although Excel displays the date in the format I
want, it stores the values as a date number so this date number 37...
and not the text 28 October 2002 is imported.
Can I overcome this without having to enter all the date manually?
