[mso] Date picker to go before 1900 ?

When I make my own date picker using the up/down arrow keys, it stops in
1900. IF I copy someone else's work, say pick a date from a calendar, such
as the date of Oct 14, 1841, copy and paste that into Word, it becomes
14-Oct-41. (I understand why.)
Is it possible to make a date picker that is more placatable to uses of
this? If I have a date such as:
James was born Jan 17, 1831. He lived 53 days. (He died Mar 11, 1831 in
other words.)
I have been looking for a way to pick a date (despite it's limitation), copy
it, and actually format it the way I am used to. Looking at 14-Oct-41, no
one can readily tell if that is Oct 14, 1741, or Oct 14, 1841, or Oct 14,
1941.
I'd love a way to click on a calendar, pick a date, and that date gets
inserted into the cell in Word. Possible? If so, it is way beyond what I
know in VBA. I thought making a calendar to defeat the 1900 limitation would
be, well, not impossible. <g>
Thanks,
Robert
