Yeah, that's what I've done, Degilbo.  I know it's only a pesky few inches
of screen space, but I guess I like to have control over what's on the
screen!

It appears that you can't remove the actual FAVORITES folder, Scott, but you
can delete the individual folder shortcuts within that FAVORITES folder. You
would be just left with the title in the navigation panel.
