I'm tending to agree with Dave on this one....with the latest info you've supplied, it's sounding more like a Windows problem than an Outlook problem...and, unfortunately, if it's a Windows problem, you'll either have to have people help you off list or take the problem to a Windows group...sorry :-( However, Microsoft DID roll out a new Windows Update which is *supposed* to fix the last update that caused the problems. So, I would definitely suggest you go to the Windows Update site and see if you've got the latest updates before you try anything else. Good luck! Linda F. Are you having any problems with drag/drop or copy/paste in any other Windows programs / office applications? It really sounds as though Outlook is in a mess and is not conducting the correct dialogue with the receiver of the action to allow an agreement on the actual transfer, although it will negotiate with the desktop enough to stop the crossed circle coming up. I do start to wonder if your problem might be in Windows Explorer not accepting the drop/paste, rather than in Outlook not providing the information. Not quite sure how to test this though. I just grabbed an Outlook message with a few Word files in it and had a play. If I opened a new Word document, I could drag the attachments straight out of Outlook into the Word document as embedded objects. (I couldn't drag them to the title bar of the Word window to be opened as Word documents, nor could I drop them onto an icon of Word to open a new instance of Word, however.) I could also drag them into the body of an Outlook Express message (this message in fact) and they appeared as attachments, which hopefully I've now deleted. Neither of these activities should involve Windows Explorer in any way. If they work for you, then you can probably blame Windows Explorer. If they fail, that mightn't prove anything. If Windows Explorer is bad, you might have to reinstall/recover the operating system. Sorry I can't be more help. This long-range analysis is a bit iffy, particularly when I don't have quite enough knowledge of how drag/drop and copy/paste are actually implemented.
