Hi Linda, and Gene,
MS has a Converter pack for Word 2000, you can find it at:
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/convpack.aspx
It will convert Wordstar formats, as well as many others not supported by 
the Office 2000 setup.
Seems that for 2002 there's nothing, though.
If you have access to a computer running Word2000, you can try that, but 
it's a 12 MB download <G>
