[mso] Re: Competing list [OT]

Well...I can only speak for myself, but in the case of THIS list, it
happens all the time becuz this list covers ALL the Office
programs....people are always saying in here..."go to this Excel list"
or "you'd be better off going to this FrontPage list" or "If you want
answers to Outlook questions, this is the best list on the net",
etc.....I guess my feeling is you go to the list that gets you the best
answers the quickest.....personally, I don't mind when people suggest
other lists here (actually, I probably belong to them all anyway), but I
guess I would prefer that they give this list a chance first, before
they go running off to another list.....and one of me PET PEEVES is when
someone posts the same question to four or five lists at the same time

I guess you *could* say it's bad netiquette....but that would be if you
really see the other lists as "competing"....if the true purpose of
these lists is to help people, then one helping list shouldn't be
considered competition to another, eh?...and if that's the case,
suggesting another list when this list isn't getting the answer the
person needs should be seen as supportive and not competitive, in my
opinion

Now....I'm back to trying to find out where the hell Outlook hid that
function to automatically add someone to your address book when you
reply to them in 2002....I personally hate that feature, so I never use
it, and now I can't find it for the life of me so I can try to answer
Terri's question....LOL....where DID they put it in 2002?

A question of netiquette completely unrelated to Microsoft Office

This is from another list I am on.

What would the unofficial and official responses be if a list member
posted
information on a list, about a similar, complementary and probably
competing
list?

Would such a posting be considered an official violation?

Would such a posting be considered a "netiquette" violation?

Would the member be admonished?

Would the member be banned?
