Linda my apologies you're right.  What I did was to go to "insert field" and
create a new date format there, which I think will be much easier than
Norman's suggestion.  Then when you go to "insert date and time" the format
will sit there ready for use. 

Sorry if I've created a diversion along the way!

I just went into Word 2003 here on my computer and I don't have the exact
format Gaynel is asking for (she said she wanted 12-19-05). Are you saying
you have that format, Anne?  I don't.

I do have some dashed formats (2005-12-19 and 19-Dec-05 and 19-Dec) but I
definitely do not have 12-19-05

Is the version difference the problem maybe?  Gaynel originally said she was
using 200*3* not 200*2* .  It's certainly available in my 2003.
