Go to Format-Cells and look for the Alignment tab. Check the 'shrink to
fit' box.

Subject: [mso] Automatic Font Resizing to fit cell in Excel 2000?
Hello everyone. I am using Excel 2000, and rarely enter more data into a
single cell then is room for, but occasionally do. Has anyone seen a
method to examine the cell's contents, and if the contents exceed cell's
width, automatically shrink the font size to fit? Possible?
I can do it roughly- count the characters in the cell and if over, say
26 characters, use conditional formatting to shrink the font. But is
there a better, catch-all-conditions, way to do this? This is one of
those instances my mind goes "Robert, you need more than five conditions
to do this," which of course Excel resists.
For those who want to know why, the cemetery names vary widely, from a
simple "Rosehill Cemetery" to a ridiculously long name such as one 52
characters long.
Thank you.
Robert
