Right. A few pointers.
Firstly, why not put a condition on the query so that it JUST shows the
ones you haven't read?
Let's say you have a field called [read] which is 'Yes' if you've read
it and 'No' if you haven't. In the criteria line of the [read] field in
query design, type in:
=No
- and the query will then exclude all the books you've already read.
But if you want to show all entries with the unread ones highlighted,
your best bet is to generate a report form the query and then apply
conditional formatting to the report.
First, make the report - the report wizard will probably get you
started. Then in the design view of the report, right-click on the field
you want to apply the colour to and from the menu that appears, select
'conditional formatting'. You'll find a wealth of options in the dialog,
but it's pretty straightforward.
To turn all the 'no's in the [read] field green, fo instance, you would
right-click on [read] and go to the conditional formatting dialog. When
there, use the pulldowns to show 'Field value is' and 'Equal to' and
then in the big box, simply type 'No' without any quotes. Then go to
preview view and admire the effect!

I tried to change it in the query but... it changed everything not just
the
one word... or can I set it to change the color in table? I usually
print
the query and take it with me to library.

Yes, it's pretty easy to do. But where do you want to change the colour?
In a report, on a form, in a table?
