[mso] Re: Access Report

senaky ray but I can't save make tables either, only the tables that are
provided by the outside system.

I discovered by a little reverse examination that the provided reports
include sub reports. Armed with that bit of info, I was able to create
a sub report that gives me the maximum ID from Contact so I have two
fields, ID and ContactID. ID, by the way, it the field common to both
tables. Anyway, I can't figure out how to get the actual contact phone
number to associate with the contact ID. Every thing I do ends up with
multiple records for those with more than one number in the contact
table. It's an SQL/VBA thing and the canned reports all show the
multiple records so I don't have a sample of writing a sub-query in my
statement. /g

Can the report be based on a table? If so, make the query you want and
convert it to a MakeTable query.

Subject: [mso] Access Report

Hi All.
I need to create an Access Report based on 2 tables.

One table is a list of unique records containing name and address
(Basic411)

The second table is a many table containing contact information
including multiple telephone numbers and email addresses. However, not
every record in the first table necessarily has a record in the second
table (Contact). The contact is identified by it's own unique ID so if
there were 3 emails for example, I can select max on the ContactID to
get the most recent one.

The report cannot be based on queries.

The criteria

All records from Basic411 and matching records in Contact with the
Active Home Phone record (only 1 possible in the contact table) and the
most recent email record based on the maximum ContactID.

I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction on this. I've always
created reports based on queries and haven't had to use VBA or
sub-reports before.

Thanks. /glenda
