How is your look-up form set up? A combo box? Is the combo box control
source set to a field or unbound with a row source lookup query? It makes
a difference. Also, is the bound column (if there is one bound) the one
tied to the ID? What is the ID structure? If you are looking up from a
form, yes the table can be protected by locking or disabling the form
field. Offhand, without knowing more, it sounds like the combo box (if
that's the lookup used) is set to a field in the table, which will change
the field data when you select a record. The control source needs to be
blank, the row source query on the combo would be the source of the
look-up. hth, Cathy

I have a question. Is it possible to protect one table from being changed?
There is a bug and I don't know what's causing it, but anytime I look up
information in a form, one field gets changed. It's the first employee's
last name. It gets changed from "Athey" to a one digit number, usually 3,
sometimes 1 or 5. Do you have any idea what could be causing this and how
I
can fix it?
Thank you,
Joomi Lee
