[mso] Re: Access Dates

Glenda,

If you aren't going to manipulate the data mathematically you should choose
text format. That is the case with any numbers you are using.

That's what I ended up doing, but as text, one can't manipulate the data
mathematically which in this case isn't necessary but still...it shouldn't
be so difficult.

I don't know if I did it correctly but I made the field property "text" and
used this as the input mask !0000;0;_

It works but again I am a total newbie here and someone may point out why I
shouldn't have done this.

I finally got it all together...
I just wish I could remember where I set it down.

I just need the year by itself. This is for a database of movies and the
year field represents the year the movie was released so no months or days
needed.

Glenda-

Do you want just the year portion of the date as yyyy or to change the
format to 1/1/01 to 1/1/2001?

In several versions of Access, I've attempted to create a field that holds
the year.

Data Type: Date/Time
Format: yyyy

When I try to enter data I get this error: "The value you entered isn't
valid for this field."

What am I doing wrong?
