Lisa,

You can always use the IIF to create a new field value in a subquery and
then update to that field.  That would do what you wanted.  Just make sure
to keep your recordset updateable.

Is that possible?
My thinking is that the update to field has to be a thing... a
definate string/number/whatever.
You are right that the vlaue I want to update is what I'm testing.

I'll have a look though and let you guys know.
