Bit of a hunch - other (preWYSIWIG) word processors used to offer the option
to "fit the lines to the page" - in other words space all the text so that
it fit exactly between top and bottom margins. The default settings in Word
would not have that, but if by any tiny chance the setting has been changed
this could have the effect you are describing.
Go to File>Page Setup>Layout and make sure the Page>Vertical Alignment
option is set to Top and not Justify.
But if that isn't it, I don't know what the cause is!

Subject: [mso] A small problem
Hello
I have a small problem with word that I hope someone can assist me with.
I have a word document that is basically a tabbed list of names and phone
numbers. On the first page it is set out ok with single line spacing. Then
when it moves to the second page for some reason the line spacing is a
little wider.
I have selected the particular area and looked at the paragraph and line
spacing settings and everything appears to be normal there so I can't work
out why this should be hammoning.
Can anyone offer some suggestions please.
Thanks Carolyn
