Thanks Linda ..... I promise!!!
And thanks for the guidance, seems funny that Microsoft doesn't allow the
facility to customise the O-o-O Assistant in this way; after all, it doesn't
seem that it would be an awfully complex thing for them to include. Then
again, I suppose that there really are quite a lot of "funnies" around MS
programs .....
:-)

Subject: [mso] A note on autoresponders
Graham...I have removed your "moderated" status and "vacation" mode from
both of the email addresses you have subscribed to this group becuz
moderating is more work than I want to do, so please promise me you won't do
this again...also, I am forwarding your message to the group, as you
requested.
If you don't want the out of office autoresponder to be sent to the group,
you can do one of two things....instead of using the out of office
assistant, create a rule instead...that will allow you to choose who you
want to receive the message...or, simply remove mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx from your
address book BEFORE you turn on your autoresponder.
Group...please DO NOT USE AUTORESPONDERS WITH THIS GROUP....it really is a
pain in the butt for anyone who posts to receive your automated responses.
Thanks. (see Graham's email to me, below)

Hi Linda
Firstly, please accept my profuse apologies for causing this problem! It
will not occur again.
Secondly, I had no idea that the Autoresponder worked outside our company
Intranet - I have run a check with my home e-mail and it certainly doesn't
get there.
Thirdly, I am using Outlook XP and the Out-of-Office Assistant doesn't seem
to give me the option to include/exclude specific addresses.
Please allow this message to be posted to the group as advance warning for
others who might hit the same problem, ..... and for some help on the last
matter?
Many thanks in advance
Graham

You have been moved to "vacation mode" becuz of your autoresponder. Please
do not include the mso group in your autoresponders. Thanks
To return to individual or digest mail when you return, just go here:
http://www.freelists.org/webpage/mso and use the dropdown menu.
I also have put you on moderated status and all future posts from you will
not be sent to the group until I approve them. I'm sorry to have to do
this, but I can't have this happening again, as it causes many members to
unsubscribe from the group when their inboxes are flooded with these
autoresponders.

I am on holiday until 17 July, but really away only until 1 July. My mobile
is also on (for emergencies!) and I will be checking e-mail.
