[msexchange] Connecting 2 Organizations?

Here's our situation:


Organization 1 (Mine)
Win2k/Exchange 5.5 on NT 4.0 domains, 4 sites, 1 server per site


Organization 2 (Parent Company)
Novell GroupWise, connected with GroupWise Connector to:
Win2K/Exchange 2000 on Windows 2000 AD, 1 site
(server set up specifically for connecting to Org 1)


My first question I have, and can't find a definitive answer to is this:

Can you use the Site Connector / Directory Replication connector to connect
2 sites, between 2 different organizations?

If not, as I suspect, what would be the best way to synchronize directories
and exchange mail between these two organizations, maintaining as much of
the Exchange functionality as possible?

I know that the SMTP connector would work, but would we lose native Exchange
functionality?
