[msexchange] Re: Auto replies to the Internet

Yes,
Don't do it... the first person that is subscribed to an email listserv that
is set to send mail to all users who sets autoreply and does not put a rule
to not reply to the listserv will generate a mail loop with hundreds of
responses.

Think to yourself how many people in your organization are subscribed to
some sort of list serv.

Teach your people how to use forward rules when they are out of the office
to forward messages from important people to someone else if this is the
worry.

Subject: [msexchange] Auto replies to the Internet

Greetings - (Exchange 5.5 Sp4 environment)

We currently do not allow auto responses to the Internet (out of office,
forwards by rule, etc...)
but there has been talk about this being a need. I believe it can create
vulnerabilities so I am leaning towards
keeping it disabled.

Any real-world experiences out there PRO and/or CON? DOS attacks, message
looping, "volleys", virus threats, etc?

Advice appreciated.

Drew
