I have decided that this stupid cast thing would slow me down too much so I
guess I will pas this weekend. But it is great to be back home!

Deb is not running the races this weekend to focus on WRM. Rob was a "Maybe"
for Skull and I know Steve wants to run at Skull but he was a little beat up
from Boston so iffy at best.

I do want to add about Boston (and I haven't gotten down to all of the
messages everyone sent). The runners really appreciated your enthusiasm,
best wishes and tracking of their races. I can safely say that for all of
them. I dropped them off at the start, went to Mile 10 and if you saw what
I saw even at mile 10 from so many runners - you would have stopped watching
as I did. Rob, Chris, Kathy and Steve all were hurting but hung in. I gave
them some ice in a bandana which is about all I could do there. All of the
them finished a lot stronger than I thought they would. It was 87-88 temps,
wind less than expected and the humidity was between 50 and 60 percent.
Absolutely BRUTAL and I was just sitting there thinking it was BRUTAL.

About 600 did not finish (shockingly LOW). Probably 200 went to the
hospital? 89 in Wellesley alone at mile 12-13.

Rob ran a terrific race at 3:17! I talked to so many runners and almost all
were 30 minutes over qualifying/expected time, most were 45 minutes over and
many were 1 hour over expectations.

Boston did a GREAT job of trying to help with extra water, hoses, you name
it but you can NOT mess with momma nature. Listen to her always...I am the
worst at doing so - so all of you have to make up for me.

Thinking I was pretty lucky cause I hate heat running and I would have
pushed myself into the hospital. Plus they gave deferrals to next year if
you picked up your packet but didn't start (from the numbers - it looked
like a couple thousand took that option and I talked to several!). I have
never seen so many hurting people (even many of the elites looked horrible
at mile 10 let alone the finish). Gut wrenching.

Those 4 were superstars from our club. You can't imagine...Ken

I wanted to see who was going to run Skull Valley, or Brian Mickelson, or
Pat Tilman this weekend?
