[moneytalks] Re: problem with money talks and reconciling

Okay, Rob. Let me try this and report back if I still have a problem. I see
what you are saying and perhaps I wasn't really pointing to the transaction.
I just knew it was there because of the amount and the check number.
So I think I see what you are saying. I will have to go back into the
register and perhaps do a search for the check number by typing that into
the item field. That way, the particular check will be highlighted and in
line with the one in the bank registry.
I will give it a try.
Thanks.

Paul:

I can't say I fully understand your question, but I think I can help.
When you get no match with the buzz, the register grid is pointing to a
blank transaction at the bottom of the register. This is because you have no
match, and the program doesn't want you to replace the wrong transaction.
This is why you have to move back to the register grid and find the
transaction with which you want to match the selected bank transaction.

Hi, Rob. I need some clarification here. When I do a reconcile, I will
switch with tab from the bank to the register. I usually leave my register
on the payee field so I can see where that particular item came from.
Sometimes, the bank's payee field is sort of cryptic. So my question is
this.
If I come to the transaction in the bank registry then tab to it in check
registry where I hear the payee field, aren't I already pointing to it?
If I then tab back to the bank register, I still get the buzz sound telling
me there is no match.
In the check registry, do I need to move away from the particular
transaction then back to it before tabbing back to the bank registry?
Thanks.

Paul:

This is correct behavior, because of the 10-day limitation. To force the
program to use the old entry, first select the transaction in the bank grid.
Then, hit Tab and select the old transaction in the register grid.
Finally,
tab back to the bank grid and hit Ctrl+Enter to clear.
This forces the program to clear the selected bank transaction with the
selected register transaction.

Hi, Guys. I have a concern with reconciling.
If I write a check to a guy on June 3 with a check number of 1032 and he
doesn't cash it until June 19, Money talks tells me there no matching entry.
Even though the amounts match and the check numbers match, because the
transaction is past ten days, money talks has a problem with the
transaction. If I change the date from June third to June 19, the money talks
is happy.
Any ideas?
