[moneytalks] Re: From Derek Jordan

Derek:

The Groceries category is already included. Perhaps your version
doesn't have our default categories since these were added later.

It is doubtful that Money Talks will use different account types any
time soon. I realize that having different category lists for different
accounts would be an advantage, but we are a bit too far into the
process at this point to change this.

A report across multiple accounts might be interesting, but this
probably won't be added for the first release.

Derek Jordan is an accountant and is visually impaired. He can receive
list e-mail, but can not send at this time. I have agreed to send his
comments about Money Talks on to the list.

Derek finds the program to be, on the whole, very accessible and well
designed.
HE finds the narrow-widen columns feature, minimum balance, and a
number of other features very useful.

He suggests:
1. include a category for groceries

2. Provide a category summary that includes the list of entries for
that category, not average amounts only. Provide a way to print and
emboss this summary for taxes and other purposes.

3. In account properties, provide a field for type of account:
checking, savings, Credit Card, 401K, etc. Individual account types
might offer different categories.

4. Is it possible to provide a report across accounts to show an
overall picture of where someone is financially?
For example, doing a credit/debit summary report or a category
summary
report across a series of user-designated accounts?
