[modeleng] Re: steel boilers & Cu flues

Patrick,

The vertical boiler I made for my "Newbie Project" locomotive uses a 10" OD
steel pipe for the outer shell and 8" pipe for the inner firebox liner.
Tube sheets are 1/4" hot rolled steel and there are 200 3/8" copper flues
which were expanded with a taper punch. It is the same boiler as was
originally designed by Bill Conner for his highly successful beam engine
locomotives. Steam can be raised from a cold start in 8 minutes and full
pressure of 100PSI in less than 10 minutes.

I will send you a photo of the Newbie under steam so you can see what it
looks like.
