Hello Ken,
This sounds like your valves are not sealing. I think that Conway is a slide
valve engine in which case I would guess that one or both slide valves are
not sitting on the cylinder face. Suggest you remove the valve chest covers
and check that valve is not being held off by the piston rod / buckle.
