[modeleng] Re: [modeleng]Pellets

John,

I don't know if anyone has any experience with burning corn instead of coal
in locomotives or not. If it would work, it would certainly be cheaper than
coal or char. I will post something on the Chaski list and ask if anyone
there has ever used corn or knows of anyone who has. I do know the people
who have used it in those pellet fuel stoves said it worked quite well.
Most of the corn burning for heat was done at a time when corn was
practically worthless ($1.49 a bushel), but some people still use it if they
grow their own corn. Would dry corn not be a bit expensive in Britain for
fuel purposes?

Saw it on the telly where there was a serious fire and multiple explosions
at a plant in St. Louis, Missouri that makes some sort of industrial gasses.
Must have been a lot of tanks of maybe propane there because of the constant
explosions and fire balls. My telly here in Troy is kaput so I will have to
wait for the morning newspaper. If it was propane that was exploding, I
could run all of my locomotives for 100 years on the amount of fire I saw.
