Very true Tel, Guards and stewards are difficult to come by. Money spinners
like birthday parties and private "do's" are difficult to operate without
these volunteers, be it 12" to the ft on the SVR or model engineering.

Well, it ain't hard to get folks willing to operate their locos for that
stipend but it's sometimes harder to recruit station masters, guards, ticket
sellers etc.
When I was building my loco I spent 5 years selling tickets/working the
station for the aforementioned cuppa & bun (no oil or coal)
