[modeleng] Re: flat belt grip

At one time, the local hardware store had paper covered sticks of what
appeared to be made of mostly, if not totally , common tar. As "V" belts
took over, the sticks of tar became hard to find and may have even been
outlawed by our benevolent government after a few hands and arms were
mangled by applying the adhesive too close to a pulley instead of several
feet away.

...there was a belt paste which we would plaster on the old flat belts to
get a grip (so to speak), and I was wondering if you knew of any such stuff
being available or some kind of mixture that could be procured to do the
 job.

I suggested rosin, but has anyone else anyy suggestions.
