By using the change gears I managed a thread of 0.5 TPI or so (2 inch pitch)
in wood. Very useful for making a marble tower Archimedean type lift. The
machining was carried out with a router mounted to the cross slide and
traversed via the lead screw handle with motor disconnected. Not often I
cut a 3/4 inch deep thread at 2 inch pitch at about 20,000 rpm in a single
pass !
